I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2009 and since qualifying I have worked in children’s mental health services, working with children from the ages of 0 to 18 who are experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties. My specialist interest areas are working with children who are being Looked After by the local authority. I work predominantly through an attachment and systemic framework, and I am trained in delivering Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) which aims to assist in the repair of difficulties which have been brought about by trauma to early attachment relationships. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I have found this type of therapy extremely useful in relieving psychological distress which has been brought about by trauma.
I also have a specialist interest in providing consultation to care teams, including social workers, residential staff, fostering officers, and foster carers. I have experience of running attachment training for adoptive parents, foster carers and kinship carers. I have also delivered attachment training to schools and worked together with teachers to help them to understand the effects of trauma and attachment insecurity in schools.
Interests: I like being outdoors, playing sports, especially Rugby!
