Prior to qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist, I held a number of jobs, related to the caring professions; working in a school for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and as a carer for children with learning disabilities. I have been an Assistant Psychologist in three different areas; Neuropsychology, Adult primary care and Adult Psychosis.
I worked in Middlesbrough CAMHS from 2004 to November 2018; this work included psychological assessments, formulations and therapeutic interventions with children, adolescents and their families. As part of my role I also worked with other agencies, such as social workers, teachers, health visitors and others, providing consultation and advice to them about mental health difficulties in children and young people. I was part of the Multi Agency Assessment Team for the assessment and diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder in children and young people, which included the delivery training to both parents / carers and staff from other agencies on attachment theory. During my time in Middlesbrough CAMHS, I completed a three-month secondment into another CAMHS team. I keep up to date via a Continuing professional development process and attend conferences and other training as needed.
Since December 2018 I have worked for Aspire Psychological Services; this work consists of working with adoptive and birth families, carrying out psychological assessments, formulations and therapeutic interventions. I also carry out psychological assessments and therapy for Looked After Children.
I am trained in DDP, levels 1 and 2, Theraplay, EMDR and have a Diploma in CBT.
Interests: I enjoy wild swimming, horse riding and cycling, and generally being outside in nature. I also love reading, going to the cinema, and eating out.
