I am a registered social work having qualified with a Masters in Social Work in 2012, with a background in health and social care. My journey into therapeutic working and interest trauma work began early on into my social work training when I secured a placement and was later employed within a therapeutic community working to support adults overcoming alcohol and substance abuse.
Post qualifying, I worked as a social worker in various Children’s Safeguarding and Assessment Teams. Within this role I worked with children, families, connected people and the wider care team across the whole spectrum of social care involvement, from early intervention and child need to child protection, looked after and care proceedings. My drive throughout this was always to continue to pursue a role within a mental health or therapeutic setting supporting children and their families.
In 2014 I moved to work within the Full Circle. The Full Circle is an integrated children’s mental health team working with children who have experienced trauma. I primarily worked supporting children who were looked after or adopted, working on both an individual and family level. The team was a multidisciplinary team and we worked across the social work teams and children’s care homes within Durham providing training and consultancy. Towards the later part of my time at the Full Circle our focus become more around post adoption support. While here I trained in DDP level 1 and Therapeutic Life Story work.
I joined Aspire Psychological Services in January 2020 in my role as a Psychological Therapist. My role within the service is to provide assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention for adoptive families.
